Writing Must Work

Kalmia is the botanical name for Mountain Laurel

In the mid 1700s, Peter Kalm, a favorite student of the famoous Swedish botanist, Linneaus, was sent to North America to look for new plants. On his deathbed, Linneaus honored Peter by naming this small shrub with glossy leaves amd clusters of cop-shaped pink or white flowers, Kalmia Latifolia.

I am a writer.

I write brand strategies, creative platforms, communications plans, marketing and sales materials, annual reports, white papers, brochures, newsletters, and everything else companies and other organizations require to communicate with their constituencies.

I write feature articles, creative profiles, essays, and a blog.

I write books, short stories, and creative non-fiction.

My clients are design studios, corporations, non-profits, magazines, publishers, and myself. My job is simple: to communicate clearly and compellingly, in a way that helps my clients reach their goals.

I believe words must reward the reader. Tell me something surprising. Entertain me. Challenge my assumptions. Make me care. I also believe this: “Nothing goes by luck in composition. It allows of no tricks. The best you can write will be the best you are.” Henry David Thoreau
